Highland Capital Management, LLP’s president, James Dondero appoints Linda Owen, previous Woodall Rogers Park Foundation’s president and chief executive officer as Charitable Giving Manager of The Dallas Foundation. The foundation oversees and administers donations given by Dallas, TX based Highland Capital Management, a U.S. SEC registered investment firm. Ms. Owen is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas School of Law. She brings to the foundation’s table years of experience in law, real estate, economics, and development as an executive. James Dondero believes Ms. Owen is the perfect candidate for the position with her combined expertise as a Dallas Civic leader and development manager.
James Dondero, Highland Capital Management and its affiliates donate over $3 million yearly to non-profit organizations that provide healthcare, education, veteran, community, and animal care services. Some of those organizations include the American Heart Association, Uplift Education, and Center for Brain Health. Dondero also contributes financially to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science and George W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum. Linda Owen is responsible for overseeing financial contributions to those organizations and other non-profits sponsored by The Dallas Foundation. She is teaming with the foundation to oversee operations of charitable funds provided by Highland Capital.
Highland Capital Management, LLP was co-founded by James Dondero as an alternative investment management firm. The firm specializes in managing distressed investment funds, hedge funds, and structured investments, internationally. The firm was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Dallas with locations in New York City, Singapore, and England. Dondero manages more than $17 billion in funds for Highland Capital’s investors.
James Dondero earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Virginia. He is certified as a Certified Management Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst. Dondero stated in a Business Wire news release that Linda Owen is an excellent candidate for the Charitable Giving Manager position because of her “proven track record of building effective public-private partnerships in Dallas, TX.” He acknowledged Ms. Owen has similar visions as Highland Capital and The Dallas Foundation.
