Sixth Annual Keep Abreast - Walking Together for Her - 2005

The HERS Breast Cancer Foundation wants to thank everyone who participated in our Sixth Annual KEEP ABREAST--Walking Together for Her event on September 24, 2005. 

100% of the proceeds from this event stay in our local community. We consider this to be "The Event That Walks With You All Year" because even after the event itself is over, the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation staff and volunteers are present to women and families all year.

I have participated in the HERS walk for four years and as a breast cancer survivor I have never had the courage to announce my name and participate in the releasing of the doves.  This year my best friend Sandi's sister Robin, who is half way thru her chemo treatments, did the walk with us, but didn't want to participate alone.  She inspired me to have the courage to walk with her to the microphone and say our names and how many years we were cancer free.  For me it is 8 years and of course for Robin it is only a few months.  Sandi and I were so proud of Robin and the fact that she completed the walk.  We were almost the last ones in, but it was well worth it.
